Community Transit Celebrates 50 Years with Historic Bus

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Community Transit is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the return of one of its original buses, 'Bluebell,' to public service. The bus, which first operated in 1976, will be available for passengers to ride starting June 23, 2026, at the Community Transit headquarters in Everett. The event coincides with Ride Transit Month, an annual initiative to promote public transportation use.

The 'Bluebell' bus will allow visitors to learn about the transit agency's key milestones and history. Community Transit's public information office noted the bus's significance as part of the agency's founding fleet. This event follows the agency's recent win of an eighth consecutive safety award from the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool, announced June 5, 2026.

Ride Transit Month activities include special events like the Everett Fan Zone at the waterfront, featuring live music and soccer watch parties. Community Transit also encourages residents to take transit to soccer tournaments across Snohomish County, with additional service tips available on their website. The agency is currently seeking public input on its Transit Development Plan, offering a $200 gift card for participation.
