Community Transit has increased pay and incentives for mechanics in an effort to improve transit service, the agency announced April 2, 2026. New journey mechanics can earn up to $59 per hour and receive up to $16,100 in incentives during their first year of employment.
The pay boost is part of a broader effort by the agency to attract and retain qualified maintenance staff. Community Transit serves Snohomish County, including routes connecting to the greater Everett area.
The announcement came the same week Community Transit introduced expanded light rail travel options. Starting March 28, riders gained the ability to take the Link 2 Line to Bellevue and Redmond from Snohomish County, adding new regional connections for local transit users.
