Everett City Council members voted 5-2 on June 24 to approve a budget amendment adding $500,000 for park improvements in South Everett. The amendment, introduced by Councilmember Jane Doe, aims to upgrade playground equipment and landscaping at South Everett Park. The funds will come from the city's general fund and are expected to be allocated by July 15. The council's decision follows public input at a June 10 meeting where residents expressed support for the park enhancements. Opponents cited concerns about budget constraints, but the amendment passed with a majority vote.
