Everett City Council approved a revised design for the new city park during Tuesday's meeting. The vote was unanimous, with Councilmember Maria Lopez calling the updated plan 'more community-focused.' The park, located at 123 Main Street, was originally proposed in 2023 with a different layout. The revised design includes additional playground equipment and expanded green space. City staff reported the project is expected to cost $1.2 million, with construction beginning in spring 2025. The council's decision follows several public comment sessions where residents expressed concerns about the initial plan. The final approval will be voted on at the next council meeting, scheduled for July 15, 2024.
