State fire resources were mobilized for two wildfires on July 9 and July 8, 2026, according to Washington State Patrol public records. The B and O Fire in Okanogan County started July 9 at 2:14 p.m. and is burning 2,000 acres, threatening homes and infrastructure. The Ryegrass Coulee Fire in Kittitas County began July 8 at 4:51 p.m. and covers 600 acres, also threatening homes and power infrastructure.
Evacuation levels 2 and 3 are active for both fires. State Fire Marshalβs Office personnel are coordinating resources, including five wildland strike teams for the B and O Fire and two strike teams plus air resources for the Ryegrass Coulee Fire. The State Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray is at Level 2 partial activation for both fires.
State Fire Protection Bureau is overseeing the mobilization under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan. The fire causes are under investigation.
