The City of Everett has launched a gallery of pre-approved accessory dwelling unit (ADU) designs to make it faster and more affordable for homeowners to add housing on their property.
The program includes three initial ADU designs: The Rose I (820 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 1. 5 bathrooms), The Schooner (1,000 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms), and The Si (999 sq. ft., 3 bedrooms, 2. 5 bathrooms). Homeowners can license these designs for about $1,500 to reduce design costs and streamline permitting.
City officials said the pre-approved plans will help shorten construction timelines and reduce workloads for the permitting department. Council Vice President Paula Rhyne stated the program offers predictable, high-quality options for multi-generational living and first-time homeownership.
