Everett Small Businesses Report Cost Concerns

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Everett's City Council released findings from a summer survey of 110 local businesses, revealing that 87% of respondents reported increased costs over the past two years, with 62% stating these costs have become much more challenging.

The survey, conducted through online responses, roundtables, and in-person visits, found taxes and fees were the top cost burden, followed by labor, insurance, and permitting. Business owners also cited rising material costs and reduced customer spending as key pressures.

City officials plan to use the results to guide future efforts, including examining cost reductions within the city's control and streamlining permitting processes. The survey also showed 51% of businesses remain optimistic about their future in Everett.
